Living Library Short Films

Last night we watched ten short films from the

Global Oneness ProjectGlobal Oneness Project,

which is a web-based video initiative exploring how the simple notion of oneness can be lived in our increasingly complex world. They believe that:

  • We are responsible to each other, the earth, and future generations.
  • There are enough resources for us all, if we share.
  • Free exchanges of information allow for greater, collective creative potential.
  • Love, care and compassion have the power to transform the fabric of society.

My favorite film was jayeshbhai_short.jpgLiving Service, in which Jayesh Patel, founder of the Indian NGO Manav Sadhna, shows us how the Gandhian principles inspiring the organization are put into practice in the vast slums of Ahmedabad. He normally does not agree to be photographed or filmed, but made an exception for this film on the condition that the camera always be pointing at the people he serves in his community. He said something like “This is the place where I am, these are the people I am with, this is what I am supposed to be doing now.” He treated everyone he met with tremendous respect and love. It was a very powerful movie.
